Therapist

Welcome! I’m so glad you’ve taken this first step toward seeking support, and I’d like to share a little bit about myself and how I can help.
I am a native of Virginia Beach where I live with my husband, our cocker spaniel and a spunky little white-capped pionus parrot. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, biking, listening to live music, taking photographs, and learning about (and buying!) new tech gadgets.
I went to James Madison University in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley in Virginia where I majored in biology and minored in psychology. After working for a pediatric geneticist for a few years, I went to Norfolk State University where I earned my master’s degree in social work.
I have worked in a variety of clinical settings including pediatric hospice, a program for adults infected or affected by HIV, a homelessness prevention program, Jewish Family Services and private practice with a group and now on my own.
I have a passion for helping my clients navigate life’s challenges and rediscover their strengths. My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and tailored to meet you exactly where you are. I believe that each person’s journey is unique, and my goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals with honesty and openness.
I also have a program called CollabOasis Clinical Consultation Groups that provides consultation groups for licensed psychotherapists. In the field of mental health, it is important to get consultation on a regular basis to ensure we are providing the best care possible to our clients as well as get the support we need to work sustainably in this high burnout field. This allows me to support some amazing therapists doing amazing work!
I work with adults who are facing a range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety: Whether it’s generalized anxiety, social anxiety, or medical or dental anxiety, I help clients manage overwhelming thoughts and feelings and develop practical tools to restore calm.
- ADHD: I support adults in understanding and managing their ADHD, helping them improve focus, organization, and self-esteem while recognizing their unique strengths.
- Work or Sports Performance: Many of my clients are entrepreneurs, professionals, or athletes dealing with performance anxiety, burnout, or imposter syndrome. I help them overcome these barriers to achieve their full potential.
- Perfectionism: I work with individuals who struggle with high expectations of themselves and help them find balance, self-compassion, and a healthier relationship with their goals.
I believe therapy should be a space where you feel truly heard and supported. My approach is integrative, meaning I use a combination of therapeutic techniques to best meet your needs. This includes:
- Brainspotting: I offer Brainspotting, a powerful technique that helps access and process deeper emotional blocks, especially in cases of trauma, anxiety, or performance challenges. This method allows us to go beyond talk therapy to target and release the root causes of emotional pain or limiting beliefs.
- Brainspotting Intensives: These are immersive therapy sessions that dive deep into your experiences, offering the chance for significant progress in a short amount of time and usually for less money. These last for three or more hours at a time and are held over one, two or three days or even monthly. I will create a custom package just for you.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: This is used mainly as we are getting to know each other and develop your unique treatment plan. It also works to help gain insights and redefine limiting beliefs.
- Mindfulness: I incorporate mindfulness to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment. By developing this awareness, you can gain greater control over how you respond to stress, anxiety, or difficult emotions, rather than being overwhelmed by them. Mindfulness also promotes self-compassion and acceptance, allowing for deeper healing and personal growth throughout the therapeutic process.
- Somatic Techniques: These go hand in hand with the other techniques we will be doing and help you become more aware of your body. We will customize a plan of techniques that you can use any time you need some extra support.
